Christmas is Chippy Theatre's favourite time of year, and in 2023 we have a sparkle of Christmas events and festive shows for all kinds of elf! Whether you are looking for family Christmas shows, traditional Christmas events or adult Christmas parties, we have them all here in our Oxfordshire home.
Family Christmas Shows
The ultimate family Christmas show is, of course, the famous Chippy Panto! Now in it's 51st year, our annual pantomime has been a staple Christmas event for generations of Oxfordshire families. We might be the national home of traditional family panto, but our 2023 show is something a little different - a colourful Latin retelling of Cinderella.
With actors, musicians and theatre-makers from twelve different countries, Cinderella mixes all the fun of the carnival with the fun of panto - vibrant colour and beautiful music meets silly jokes and lots of sweets!
Traditional Christmas Shows
There is one classic Christmas show that needs no introduction: The Nutcracker. Tchaikovsky's ballet has enchanted audiences for centuries and seeing Clara, her nutcracker and the Sugar Plum Fairy is a real tradition for families and individuals alike.
In 2023 you don't need to slog up to the Royal Opera House, because we're screening this traditional Christmas event right here in Oxfordshire. There's nothing quite like seeing a live performance in a real theatre, and in this case you'll be watching the dancers streamed live in the Christmassy atmosphere of our Victorian auditorium.
Adult Christmas Shows
The grown ups like a Christmas party too! In Chipping Norton we have two adult Christmas events in 2023 that promise to get you merry and bright.
Join us at Chipping Norton Town Hall for a Latin Fiesta with Oxford salsa band Mambo Tropical. Perfect for those who are looking for a Christmas event that's a little different, the Latin Fiesta will bring South American warmth to a dark December night.

For something more traditionally festive, The Churchfitters are returning to Chipping Norton in 2023. A folk group that plays a scrap-metal bass and a musical saw, The Churchfitters combine foot-stomping fiddle with infectious rhythms. For this Christmas event you can also expect a Christmas cracker-full of surprises, novelties - and terrible jokes!
