Rhiannon Tomes
Rhiannon has a First Class degree in Contemporary Theatre from the University of Chichester, and went on to train at East15 Acting School, achieving an MA in Theatre Directing.
Specialising in devised theatre, throughout their training Rhiannon worked with a variety of actors and young students across various genres and forms of theatre, including clowning, improvisation and physical theatre.
Performing from a young age, Rhiannon’s love of theatre grew even stronger after becoming a member of Mandala Young Company, going on to devise and perform a production at Oxford’s Offbeat Festival and as part of Les Rencontres du Jeune Théâtre Européen in Grenoble in 2017.
Their experience of working with artists from across Europe, along with time spent in Bali studying Eastern Performing Arts, offered Rhiannon a well-rounded view of how theatre is shared and utilised in all parts of the world, and how it is a vital ingredient for a flourishing society. From their own experiences, as well as previous work as an Early Years teaching assistant, Rhiannon knows firsthand the impact that theatre can have on young people; how it encourages confidence and develops skills that are transferable across all elements of life.
A director, writer and performer, Rhiannon’s first short play will be debuted at Chichester Fringe Festival in June 2024. Joining The Theatre as Take Part Officer, Rhiannon is excited to support the department’s many community activities, and further develop connections between the local community and Chippy Theatre!
