Pop - Up - Studios

The Theatre is launching Pop Up Studios in the previously named Highlands Day Care Centre.

Following the period after the Covid Pandemic a difficult decision was taken by the current owners of the building, Age Concern Chipping Norton, to close the day care centre. Having been a thriving centre since the 1970s the building has remained, since 2020, largely unused and deteriorating.

Now we step into the future of this much loved community building. Age Concern Chipping Norton has been working in collaboration with The Theatre over the last year and we are now delighted to be launching The Theatre’s Pop Up Studios. It has been the desire of both organisations to find a creative way to save and relaunch this community asset so that it can continue to play a vibrant part in the lives of local people. The Theatre has been refurbishing the building and rooms, which now contains 2 bright and inviting spaces to use, including one large workshop space with dance mirror.

This additional space will allow The Theatre to expand its community work and specifically develop a programme for older people, and provide 2 accessible workshop spaces. The Theatre is currently researching and tailoring this new programming in the coming 6 months and making the space available now for hire for any groups, parties, meetings or classes that would like to make use of it. The Theatre is a charity and as such, any commercial income generated will go back to supporting the upkeep of the building and the community activities housed within it.

Laurence Nurses’ offices are now based at Pop Up Studios, making this now a collaboration of three Chipping Norton charities, who are looking forward to a continue collaborative future.
