The Theatre Chipping Norton is nationally celebrated for the quality of its Pantos. From engaging scripts, written by the Theatre’s own Artistic Director this year, to the acting talent, to the investment in set and costumes all created at The Theatre each year.
Designs for this year’s costumes have been finalised. The materials have been sourced and soon The Theatre will have a buzz of activity creating the clothes and backdrop ready for rehearsals in October.
“I love how playful you can be with costume in panto, and how silly! Costume design starts with colour and texture. we come up with a palette to give an idea of the world of the panto. From there, we do a series of mood boards to agree on general style and shape and bring ideas to the table, then finish with a set of costume drawings to give to the costume makers.” Alice McNicholas, Costume Designer for this year’s Panto.
Set in the French town of Saint Saucisson, the plot follows the introduction of science to a town previously reliant on magic as well as a chaotic love triangle. The stage has been created by theatre designer Pip Leckenby, to embody these themes, with a focus on late 19th Century art and architecture and roses are a key big feature.
The Panto runs from 19 November 2025 to 18 January 2026. Tickets are now selling fast so book tickets here or call the box office on 01608 642350
