JobsJob Description

Venue: The Theatre Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.
Written and Directed by John Terry
Original Music composed by Tom Self
Musical Director Sophie Juge
We are seeking a Sound Designer with good experience of working with live music and vocals to join the creative team for our nationally renowned and award-winning Pantomime.
The Sound Designer will be responsible for the technical and creative delivery of a pre-programmed sound design for the shows, with a particular focus on mixing and pre-setting levels for live singing and music. The show has a band of two – usually keyboards and drums. Generally, we do not work with backing tracks or click tracks, and all music is played live from onstage positions. Sound levels to be set in consultation between Sound Designer, Director, Composer and MD. The show has a cast of six adult principles, 2 ensemble understudies and three teams of four children. We usually use a combination of float microphones plus personal radio mics on the 8 adult performers. We do not have a live sound operator for the run, so levels need to be preset using Qlab and/or our digital desk. In addition, there will be a smaller element of sound design creation, including some at most and a few sound effect cues.
Dates: General rehearsals begin Mon October 27th. Provisional attendance required for 8th Nov (stagger through and sound fit up), 10th – 11th Nov (sitzprobe), 12th – 15th Nov (Technical Rehearsals) 17th-18th Nov (Dress Rehearsals) 19th – 21st Nov (previews and press night).
