Creative Writing Tutor

The Theatre, Chipping Norton is seeking an experienced creative writing tutor to lead our two adult writing groups, which meet on Mondays, 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1pm – 3pm during terms of ten-week blocks.

We are looking for a published writer (although excellent teaching skills are far more important than being a widely published author), who can encourage and inspire the members during sessions and through homework exercises.

Our tutor needs to promote opportunities for possible publication and writing competitions as well as offering insights and advice on the different styles and genres of writing.  It is also important that the students are encouraged to critique each other’s work in a supportive and constructive manner.

The groups are well-established, comprising members who have attended for many years, as well as  new members joining regularly.

The successful candidate will need to be able to commit to the ten-week terms, which run in line with school terms, with half term breaks when the groups don’t meet.
