About Pippin Auditions 2026

We are looking for young actors, aged 9-15 years old to come and audition for our Pippins' (young person) company for this year's pantomime The Snow Queen Pantomime!

Pippins are an important part of making our pantomime so special! We will be casting for 12 pippins who will perform in three teams of four children. Each team will be in approximately 33 shows across the run and will perform in the ensemble and have small speaking roles. Chaperones will be present throughout rehearsals and performances to ensure all pippins are safe and well looked after.

These auditions are open to anyone, even if you have no prior connection to The Theatre.

The show

Join us in a spellbinding winter wonderland for an epic, family-friendly pantomime twist on the classic tale. After the spiteful Snow Queen cancels Christmas and kidnaps her best friend Kai, young Gerda must set off on a daring rescue mission with her sweetie-loving Mum, Dame Candy Cane. Packed with hilarious antics, original music, a sprinkling of Christmas magic and a blizzard of sweeties – this will be a Chippy Panto you won’t forget.

The audition will be a chance for your child to show off their skills, play some games and have fun. It will include…

Acting - including group games and reading some short bits of script which will be provided on the day

Dancing - taught on the day by a choreographer

Singing – singing a short passage of song prepared in advance (more details below)

What to prepare:

Your child will not be given any of the script in advance and they will not need to prepare anything for the acting or dancing sections of the audition.

The only thing they will need to prepare and bring is a short passage of song, usually a verse and a chorus is about right. We will have a pianist, so your child can bring piano music for accompaniment, or a backing track if they would prefer (but they should bring own speakers and device if they are doing this)
