LITTLE MUSIC MAKERSLittle Music Makers

Tuesdays,

9.45 – 10.15am (Complimentary tea/coffee from 9.30am) for 0 – 18 months 

10.30am – 11am (Complimentary tea/ coffee from 10.15am) for 18 months - 4 years

Led by Theresa Crawford of Salt Box Music Co., these fun and educational music sessions offer a colourful array of percussion instruments from around the world, fun and interactive songs and games for you to enjoy together, props, puppets and lots of giggles!  These popular sessions provide a stimulating early introduction to the world of music in the most enjoyable way.  Carers to stay with children.

Tickets:Pre-booking five or more sessions: £4.50 (and £3.60 for siblings)

Pre-booking four or fewer sessions: £6.00 (and £4.80 for siblings)

LITTLE DANCERS

FOR 2 - 4 YEAR OLDS

Led by Sally Elderfield, these sessions offer children the chance to explore a variety of dance stlyes, helping to develop coordination and control whilst enhancing their sense of rhythm.  Each session is themed and there are lots of dance based games and activities, an introduction to dance forms from different cultures and plenty of opportunities for the children to express themselves.  Carers to stay with their children.

Saturdays, 10am – 11am or 11.15am – 12.15pm

FOR 5 - 7 YEAR OLDS

Led by actor and workshop leader, Lucy Joseph, these fun sessions aim to build confidence and creativity through improvisation, mime, storytelling, character work and games. The sessions provide an excellent introduction to drama and working with other young people.

Tickets: £70 per ten-week term.

YOUTH MUSICAL THEATRE 5+ 

Mondays, 4pm – 5pm  

FOR 5+ YEAR OLDS

Fun-filled classes of singing, dancing and drama for 5+ year-olds. These weekly sessions, led by Lindsey Henderson, are a wonderful way for students to learn new skills and build confidence, inspiring plenty of creativity along the way. Students will be involved in learning a variety of songs and dances, as well as taking part in storytelling and creative play.

Thursdays 4pm - 5.30pm

FOR 7+ YEARS

These weekly sessions concentrate on singing and dancing, offering young people a taste of musical theatre and a chance to work as a member of an ensemble. Participants work with a choreographer, voice tutor and musical director who introduce them to a wide variety of songs and dance styles. For ages 7+ years.

There are approximately 200 young people in our Youth Theatre. We have ten age-banded groups and participants concentrate on devising and improvising in particular, but also work on script and movement as well. 

The Youth Theatre not only develops young people's performance skills, creativity and imagination, it has a proven track record of increasing their self confidence.  Youth Theatre members are also provided with opportunities to perform on The Theatre’s stage.  Please contact the Box Office for further information.

STREET DANCE

Mondays, 5pm – 6pm. 

FOR 8-12 YEARS

Street Dance is all about having fun and boosting your confidence. The classes are open to all abilities, and are led, by Lindsey Henderson, in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Students will develop greater balance, co-ordination and footwork, thus enhancing their performance ability.  The weekly sessions are a great introduction to Street Dance, and a perfect way to show off dance moves and perform routines as a group!

ADULTS

ADULT DRAMA GROUPS

Tuesdays, 6.30pm - 8pm

or 8.15pm - 9.45pm

Led by actor and workshop leader, Lucy Joseph, the sessions focus on a wide range of skills, including drama exercises, breath and voice work, exploring scripts, improvisations and characterisation.  The Intermediate Group is for those who have already attended the Beginners' Group or who have some previous experience of drama and performing. 

Adult Drama is suitable for those who enjoy drama and theatre but also for those who wish to improve their self confidence.  Adult Drama members are provided with opportunities to perform on The Theatre's stage.

These sessions are led by playwright, Alan Pollock, who uses examples, discussion and practical exercises to stimulate the creativity of participants who will then be encouraged to share their own work in a creative and supportive environment.

Owing to popular demand for our Creative Writing sessions, The Theatre is delighted to announce the launch of a second group. Led   by playwright, author and radio writer Miranda Walker, this new group will explore a range of genres and styles through discussion and practical exercises, designed to spark imagination and creativity. Writers will be encouraged to share their own work in a creative and supportive environment, and to discover possible outlets for their work.

CHIPPING NORTON SINGERS
Chipping Norton Singers

Thursdays: 7.30 - 9pm

16 – 116 (12+ if accompanied by an adult)

Research shows that singing has many benefits, including reducing stress and inspiring self confidence. The Singing Group will offer you a chance to explore your singing voice, as well as meeting new people and enjoying yourself. Led by Cat Kelly, Musical Director of Rising Voices and Director of Folk Weekend Oxford, the group will sing a wide repertoire, from pop classics to traditional folk songs and world music. There are no auditions; you don’t need to be able to read music, so whether you are a complete novice or an experienced singer, there will be something for everyone.
