Backstage Tours

Explore The Theatre as you’ve never seen it before!

With our backstage tours you'll get into all the nooks and crannies of our historic working theatre building, understand how our shows work and see things off limits to the public! Led by our Front of House Manager, you’ll hear stories of the stars who have graced our stage as well as see what makes The Theatre magic happen.

You’ll start in our Theatre bar, see the view from our balcony, creep through the secret backstage corridor and step out onto our stage. From there you’ll peek into the dressing rooms and make your way up to our magical attic props and costume cupboard. A backstage tour is an excellent activity for community groups or a special occasion.

Tours will take approximately one hour and have a maximum group size of 15 as there are some narrow places to get through. Some areas of the Theatre building are only accessible via stairs, please let us know of any access requirements. Backstage tours are available for a minimum suggested donation of £70.

"Our group from a local WI were given a tour front and backstage by the Front of House Manager, Glenn and his knowledge and enthusiasm just shone through.

How thrilling to stand on the stage and then discover what happens behind the scenes. A highlight were the many stories of the triumphs and disasters of various productions. Glenn was very discreet and not prepared to name any visiting stars whose behaviour was less than angelic!

Our visit was rounded off our visit with a coffee in the delightful bar. All in all, it was a most enjoyable visit."
