News Story
From Spring 2026, The Theatre is expanding it’s rehearsal and class programme in to a brand-new site in the former Highlands day care centre on Burford Road. The new ‘Pop Up Studios’ will run in partnership with Age Concern Chipping Norton, who still maintain a space within the building, and Lawrence Home Nursing, who are now permanently basing their offices there. This is a true collaboration of three vital charities in the area working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community.
The new space allows the Theatre to have extra rehearsal space, much needed with The Theatre’s ever increasing own productions, a space to hire for birthday parties and meetings and clubs, and spaces for The Theatre’s Take Part and community programme, allowing more people locally to access The Theatre’s range of classes.
The building has undergone refurbishment in the last year to make it an accessible, modern and comfortable place to work and be. One new project based at the Pop Up Studios is Arts for Elders. Chipping Norton and the surrounding rural area have a higher proportion of people aged 65 and over, with the elder population increasing by 32% over the past decade. The Theatre is responding by creating a programme that will encourage people to make connections, by offering an arts-led programme of activities for this community. Classes being considered include Parkinson's Movement classes, Creative Writing and Reminiscence Singing. The project will start imminently with a full consultation with the local community and partners to develop the programme collaboratively. More information on the programme being offered will be available in soon. For details on the space available for hire please visit here.
