This autumn, The Theatre Chipping Norton, at the heart of the Cotswolds, hosts three unforgettable productions, each offering something a little different for those who love a great story, brilliantly told.
First up is Jane Eyre, Conn Artists Theatre Company's thrilling new staging of Charlotte Brontë's beloved gothic romance. From the cruelty of a lonely childhood to the shadowy corridors of Thornfield Hall, this is a story of passion, secrets, and unbreakable resilience, brought to life by an ensemble cast of five with haunting original music. It's a timeless tale of independence and the courage to follow your heart, performed by the same company behind the acclaimed Far from the Madding Crowd.
For those craving wit, glamour and a little mischief, The Importance of Being Earnest gets a dazzling 1920s makeover courtesy of OVO. Adam Nichols' musical reimagining of Oscar Wilde's classic comedy is packed with art-deco flair, fizzing physical comedy and a live jazz band that weaves reworked hits from Lizzo, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Queen through Wilde's razor-sharp dialogue. As Jack, Algy, Gwendolen and Cecily tangle themselves in a web of mistaken identities and multiplying engagements, audiences are promised a night that's every bit as playful and romantic as it is stylish.
Then in October, Down to Chance arrives, a gripping and heart-warming true story from Maybe You Like It. Set against the backdrop of the largest earthquake in US history, this madcap production follows radio reporter Genie Chance as she risks everything, live on air, to hold her community together in the face of chaos. With frantic multi-roling and immersive live sound, it's a vivid portrayal of courage and community with the whole world listening in.
Three extraordinary stories, three unmissable nights. This autumn, The Theatre Chipping Norton's stage is set for you. Book here.
