A fresh slant on Beauty and the Beast Panto at The Theatre Chipping Norton this Winter
The Theatre Chipping Norton is producing another quality Panto performance to be shared and enjoyed by families this winter. Beauty and the Beast, written by the Theatre’s own Artistic Director John Terry, takes on a new, hilarious slant on this well-loved story. The Panto runs from 19th November 2025 to 18th January 2026.
Set in the small French town of Saint Saucisson (oh yes it is) the plot sees Madame Hex, a magical entrepreneur with an iron grip on the townsfolk, seeking revenge on the exciting newcomer, Scientist and Inventor, Pierre, for trying to steal the show. Pierre appears to have the advantage, but will he win the heart of Marie, the beauty?
A boutique rural theatre at the heart of its community, The Theatre is known nationally for its Pantos and was awarded ‘Outstanding contribution to Innovation’ at the UK Panto awards in 2024. The adult cast is selected from professional actors from across the country as well as local child actor talent, aligning with the Theatre’s ambition to inspire talent and careers within its community.
Last year’s Jack and the Beanstalk entertained 49 schools from 5 counties and thousands of families and friends.
“Chipping Norton Theatre puts a massive amount of energy into its Panto, both in delivering each show and in crafting every element of its development. Our aim is to deliver the sort of quality and production values that you’d expect from a big city arts hub, but maybe not a small rural one like ours - and the reviews indicate that we do! Now more than ever, pantos provide a much welcome opportunity to laugh out loud and scream at the cast for the sake of fun.
This twist on the traditional story, with bike races, lovestruck snails and crazy scientists, should land well with children and adults alike.” John Terry, Artistic Director.
The Theatre has maintained last year’s ticket price for early bookers (available until the end of July). Book tickets here or call the box office on 01608 642350
