Creative Writing Tutor
JobsJob Description
The Theatre Chipping Norton is seeking an experienced Creative Writing Tutor to lead our two adult writing groups, which meet on Mondays (10.30am – 12.30pm and 1pm – 3pm) delivering blocks of sessions over a period of 10 -14 weeks, falling in line with school term times.
There may also be the opportunity to deliver an additional session on Wednesday evenings, 7pm – 9pm depending on booking interest.
Ideally, we are looking for a published writer (although excellent teaching skills are far more important than being widely published), who can encourage and inspire the members during sessions and through homework exercises.
Our tutor needs to have a warm and supportive approach, with a good sense of humour. They will promote opportunities for writing competitions and for possible publication, as well as delivering writing exercises and offering insights and advice on different forms, genres and styles of writing. It is also important that the students are encouraged to critique each other’s work in a positive and constructive manner.
The groups are well-established, comprising members who have attended for many years, as well as new members joining regularly. Members appreciate sessions that are structured, but also relaxed and informal.
The successful candidate will need to be able to commit to delivering sessions each week during term time, with half-term breaks and longer school holiday periods when the groups don’t meet.
To apply, please send a recent CV and a cover letter indicating how your skills and experience meet the job requirements to takepart@chippingnortontheatre.com
