RU CALLENDER

In wanting to approach death and its rituals in a new way, Ru Callender became a radical undertaker, determined to offer people a more honest experience than the formal and stilted traditional Victorian-style funerals we are most accustomed to. He drew on the kinship and inspiration he found in rave culture and political nonconformists and now has written about it all in a fascinating book that is neither grisly or morbid – instead it is profound, moving and funny.

Ru will be interviewed by Nicola Chester, whose book On Gallows Down, Place, Protest and Belonging was shortlisted for the Wainwright prize for nature writing in 2022.

Nicola will also be running a Writers' Workshop: Wild Writing at 10:30am on Sat 29 April.
