About The Artist

Geoffrey Smith has had a life-long passion for the visual arts having written two guide-books on art history. He has been taking photographs of the natural world for more that 40 years and has always been inspired by the beauty of the Cotswolds.

About The Exhibition

"I hope this exhibition will, however inadequately, go some way towards illustrating the arboreal diversity in the Cotswolds and beyond. They have been taken over a number of years in all seasons. Each individual tree reacts to local conditions giving it a distinct ‘personality’. My attempts to capture a simulacrum of these individuals could be described as portraiture and those images of wooded areas might be seen as group photographs. Just to be present in a wood or near to a mature tree can lift the spirit. It might be a fond hope but perhaps some of these images might elicit the same reaction."
