DAVID LOCKETT GALLERY EXHIBITION
About the Exhibition
"A distinct chain of footpath, lane and road...leading across the country and corresponding in much of its course with boundaries is likely to be an ancient way" .Edward Thomas, quoted in Robert Macfarlane,"The Old Ways".
Ditch-hedge Lane is part of an ancient trackway, 3-4 thousand years old, it divides Oxfordshire and Warwickshire going virtually due south from Southam to Chipping Norton. The paintings grow from 2 years of drawing and exploring the Lane. They are mental images of place which I wanted to show in the actual locality, the Theatre Gallery is an ideal venue.
