A HERO (12A)

Age Recommendation: 12A

New from Iranian auteur Asghar Farhadi (Oscar-winning director for both A Separation and The Salesman) comes A Hero, a riveting moral drama and co-winner of this year’s Cannes Grand Prix.

Calligrapher Rahim (Amir Jadidi) is in prison because of a debt he could not repay. During a two-day parole, his girlfriend, Farkhondeh (Sahar Goldoust) presents him with a golden opportunity that will secure his permanent release. But things don't go as planned, and soon our hero’s days of freedom come to feel numbered.

A tightly crafted melodrama, A Hero gradually reveals the moral crisis at the heart of Rahim’s dilemma while illuminating contemporary Iranian society, culture and the vagaries of online fame.
