‘Layers of Life’ is an exhibition influenced by travelling, working and living in Africa, South East Asia, Australia, South America, Ireland and the UK. The colours, textures, sounds, smells, rituals and rhythms of such diverse cultures are represented in her method of working using layering techniques in both painting and textiles. A collection of pictures and wall hangings which combine acrylic on canvas with textiles and free machine embroidery show the richness of experience that can be found in life if we scratch away the surface and expose the hidden layers. Catherine was brought up in Oxfordshire and has recently returned to live in the area.
The Gallery is open during performances and films and Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11am-3pm unless otherwise stated in the programmed listings.
